Laura Lizcano
Laura Lizcano is a singer-songwriter based in New York City, working at the intersection of Latin American traditions and indie alternative music. Her songs shine in both English and Spanish with deeply personal and confessional storytelling enhanced by a telenovela-like drama, reflecting the push and pull of belonging to multiple places at once. An accomplished artist, Laura has opened for Ana Tijoux, Gaby Moreno, Juan Wauters, and Deb Talan at iconic venues like Le Poisson Rouge and World Café Live. She has also independently produced and released three projects: Chance on Me EP (2018), Heart (2020), and Daughter of the Sea (2022). In 2026, she’ll be releasing new music, entirely in Spanish, funded in part by a grant from Chamber Music America. Her collaborative work includes a partnership with Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, for whom she has written and performed original music in pieces presented at the Cannonball Festival, Miniball, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Almanac also appears in the music video for her song “Major Tom.” She also collaborates with playwright Nick Jonczak on the dark comedy musical Americannibal.
