Selda Sahin

Selda Sahin is an NYC-based songwriter and storyteller. She is a recipient of the ASCAP Foundation Cole Porter Award, and a finalist for the Fred Ebb Award, the Kleban Prize and the Richard Rodgers Award. Selda wrote the original songs (with Derek Gregor) for the feature film AMERICAN REJECT. Their musical PARTICLE (with Autumn Reeser) was selected for the 2025 NAMT Festival of New Musicals after development at Michigan State University’s New Musical Laboratory, Nazareth University and Missouri State University (co-produced by Broadway Unlocked). Their musical MODERN was selected for the Stephen Schwartz ASCAP Workshop, the ASCAP "Grow A Show" Workshop and The Village Theatre Festival of New Musicals. Their musical OFF SEASON was a part of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, and their TYA musical CLASS PRESIDENT is licensed through Concord Theatricals. Selda received a commission from The Atlanta Opera for her libretto of STEELE ROOTS which premiered in their 2025 season. Selda wrote the music and lyrics to the musical ALL FALL DOWN which premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival directed by Lonny Price and starring Mary Testa and Jenn Colella. She received a publishing deal for her song “Filling Space” via Anthem Entertainment, and her pop and country songs continue to be recorded and performed by artists around the country. Before she switched gears entirely to writing, she assistant directed Lonny Price on countless projects including two Broadway shows, work at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Ravinia Theatre, Town Hall, and she holds an Emmy for her work with Price on “PASSION: Live at Lincoln Center”.
