Stephanie Henry

She/Hers

Stephanie Henry is a Minneapolis-based composer, pianist, and musical theatre artist whose work explores identity, resilience, and the beauty of difference. Drawing from her classical training and her multiracial heritage, she fuses genres including classical, R&B, pop, and rock to create bold, narrative-driven music that amplifies stories of people of color. Stephanie is currently developing two original musicals: Philippa, inspired by the life of biracial piano prodigy Philippa Schuyler, and Willow Storm and the Lightning Bolts, an electrifying 1980s glam-rock coming-of-age story about identity, gender expression, and artistic self-discovery. Her work often centers themes of otherness, belonging, and the transformative power of performance. In addition to her theatrical writing, Stephanie composes piano works that reflect her connection to nature and storytelling, including Four Seasonal Sketches of Central Minnesota, a multimedia piece inspired by the landscapes of her home state. A recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Stephanie is passionate about creating spaces where silenced voices can sing freely.
